Description

The second volume of the Soldier son trilogy sees the Gernian Cavalla Academy trying to recover from the devastation of the Speck plague. This plague has killed much of the population. There are also many survivors of the plague who must now try and recover from the long term effects.

Cadet Nevare Bruvelle prepares to journey home to see his brother married and despite being a victim of the plague, he isn't wraith thin and suffering but actually healthy and gaining weight. His nights are haunted by dreams of the Tree Woman, a Speck who leads him into betraying everything he holds dear.

Has the plague had an effect on his mind, or is he changing in ways that will make him choose between two worlds?.

This second volume builds on the first and is much faster paced, with excellent twists and turns to the plot.
